Microsoft E3 Press Event Wrap Up

Microsoft E3 Press Event Wrap Up

Microsoft did put on a great show this morning, but if you have been unable to follow the whole thing minute by minute, here are the highlights:

  • Modern Warfare 2 Looks Fantastic
  • Forza 2 Looks impressive too
  • MGS is coming to Xbox 360!
    • Finally, Xbox 360 fans will get some MGS love. Hideo Kojima himself announced it on stage. When!?!?
  • You are the controller
    • Microsoft’s project Natal uses your body motion to control games. As always with that stuff, it sounds great, but it needs to be put to the test. It works with all Xbox 360 games Microsoft said.

Tomorrow, join us live for the Nintendo Press Conference at 9am PT and the Sony Press Conference at 11am PT.

Gwabbit For BlackBerry : Killer App for Contact Automatic

Gwabbit For BlackBerry : Killer App for Contact Automatic

Gwabbit desktop launched at DEMO 09 where it won a DEMOgod award. I use the Gwabbit add-on for Outlook daily, I just have to select the name with contact info in an email signature and click the Gwabbit button: it generates automatically a new contact card with the info stored in the right fields, it saves me so much time!

Yesterday the BlackBerry version was launched, the CEO, Todd Miller, showed me the 5 seconds demo a few days ago: it searches and identify the signature in an email then creates automatically a new entry in the address book (see picture):. This application makes even more sense for the phone, since mobile typing is such a pain.

It will be available for $9.95 a year on May 25th at the BlackBerry App World and you can purchase it for Outlook for $19.95 at www.gwabbit.com.

Is Palm As Dead as Ashok Kumar (Analyst) Says?

Is Palm As Dead as Ashok Kumar (Analyst) Says?

Ashok Kumar, an analyst for Collin Stewart thinks that the Palm Pre is Dead on Arrival (DOA). He claims that the recent rumor of supply control are in fact wrong. Palm would be reducing the production because it is still having "multiple software and hardware problems". As a result, Mr Kumar thinks that Palm will fall short of the 1M unit shipped by year's end. That's "highly unrealistic" he says.

That sounds a bit panicky to us. Palm might have problems getting a product out of the door, and for sure, they must be dealing internally with some last minute bug, but that's just a fact of life in the Tech industry.

Coke Vending Machines To Provide Free Drinks, In Case of an Emergency

Coke Vending Machines To Provide Free Drinks, In Case of an Emergency

Not only Japan is prone to earthquake, its major cities have an extended underground transportation system. When a quake happens, people can potentially be trapped for extended periods of time and suffer among many things, from dehydration. That's where the updated vending machines come into play. In case of an emergency, they'll dispense free drinks. Now I'm worried about the riot that will take place in front of the vending machine.

PS3 Motion Sensing Controller To Debut at E3? (Rumor)

PS3 Motion Sensing Controller To Debut at E3? (Rumor)
Not actual photo of the device

This is potentially very hot: Sony is said to be launching a motion sensing controller at E3, a device that would effectively open the floodgates of Wii-like games. When combined with the PS3's superior graphics power, this is a combination that could inflict some serious damage on the Wii in the long term.

Sony Motion Sensing controller is said to be more accurate than the Wii controller, especially when it comes to sensing the forward and backward motion (push/pull). We'll see soon enough.

That said, Sony won't get any of the very popular Wii games developed by Nintendo itself and the PS3 is still the most expensive console. If true, this is a launch that is well overdue. (controller patent, previous motion sensing controller video)
